Located in Asheville, North Carolina, this assisted living facility will be a charming and welcoming home for all residences. Pulling inspiration from costal elements in Beaufort, North Carolina. Linear lines, Wood paneling and soft plush materials will be used throughout the space. The images of wild horses running along the shore sparked the color scheme. Natural tones mixed with warm reds, mossy greens, and pale yellows. Incorporating these colors will also benefit the residents of the space allowing them to be more visually adapted. Creating rooms that feel elegant, beautiful and spacious is also important. That feeling you get when you are walking on the board walks, or along the shore is the same feeling I want you to feel walking into this space; peaceful and refreshed.
The Forms Study project of my Junior Year was a challenge. We began with a process of tracing an image using a certain number of lines. These lines eventually went down to five. From that shape we carved it out in a foam block. This is how I got the shape of my store. When looking at the curves and straight lines I began envisioning a clothing boutique. The large front curve to be a store front window, and the back to be the dressing rooms and speciality merchandise. I wanted to incorporate pops of color to bring a modern feel. Using materials such as silks, and velvets for a more high end design.

For this project we had to design a kitchen and dining space that would accommodate to a family needing ADA accessibility, easy cooking space for a grandmother, and enough space for all the children. We were asked to chose a specific design period to base our project off. I chose to design around Scandinavian Design. Sleek cabinets, countertops, and fixtures will be used to highlight the scandinavian design elements.
This home is a project I have been working on in my free time. I feel this best represents my vision of residential design. I believe it is important to make a home feel warm and comforting. Selecting materials that will add visual texture. These might be found in furniture upholstery, wall paneling, rugs and flooring. Thinking about human interaction in a space is very important. Material selection can orchestrate how one feels and acts in a space.
